Louisiana Facelift

Facelifts in Louisiana are fairly common, according to Penelope C. Treece, M.D., who heads an all female staff at Southern Aesthetics.

As we age, our faces, having been exposed to strong sunlight, pollution and stress no longer look as young as we feel. Many ask cosmetic surgeons like Dr. Treece to turn back the clock a tad. However, there's no longer just one type of facelift. Dr. Treece evaluates the patient's facial skin and degree of loose skin at the initial facelift consultation.

Right for You?

A facelift may be right for you if you have:

• Face and neck skin which has begun to sag, but the skin still has elasticity and a strong, well-defined bone structure
• Loss of a well-defined jaw line
• Deep wrinkles in the cheeks
• Loose skin, wrinkles or excess fatty tissue in the neck

If you opt for a full facelift, you'll have a somewhat longer recovery time.

Softens Smile Lines

But many more Louisiana facelift patients in their 40s or 50s only want partial, or mini, facelifts. Those include mid, upper and lower facelifts. For instance, a lower facelift makes the jaw line less slack and jowly while a mid-facelift which Dr. Treece calls an "S-Lift," removes the deep creases of skin between the mouth and lower eyelids while softening smile lines.

A facelift may be combined with other procedures such as liposuction to the neck or chin, lip enhancement or injection of fillers such as Botox to plump out wrinkles or troughs around the mouth. An upper facelift, also known as a Brow Lift, tightens the skin on your forehead, brows and in the area between your eyebrows.
