Lips

Lips are augmented using a choice of fillers:

Radiesse, Restylane, Fascian, Artefill

These are injected under local anesthesia in the office. They vary by how long they last and possible complications. Generally you are swollen for several days after and can have some bruising. We can place as much or as little as you like, but since results can be lasting, it is better to be conservative at first.

An alternative to injectable fillers is Alloderm. It is a graft of donated dermis which has been washed free of cells and dehydrated. It is placed through a tunnel made in the lip by creating tiny incisions hidden in the comers of the mouth. Because it is "human", it takes much like a skin graft. It does require a "mini" operation and swelling can last for several weeks. Your own dermis can also be used if you have a prior scar to re-excise.
